BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY
When you change one child’s life, your impact is multiplied over future generations.

Our Story
Foundation for Child Support and Development is a grassroots charity founded in 2018, by David Kyalo Kimanthi.
David is the Project Director and the Chair of the Board of Directors of this organization.
David is a former student of Starehe Boys Centre and School; which is an institution that gives sponsorship to needy, but bright boys in Kenya. Having been a beneficiary of this initiative himself, David’s mission is to continue to help as many students as possible rise up from underprivileged backgrounds to receive similar, or even better. school sponsorship.
Education is our number one priority because we believe that the prospects for a promising future is linked to quality education. We hope to send every FCSD child to quality schools and strive to lay a solid academic foundation that will lead to gaining marketable skills and sustained employment.
“Education is a powerful drive of development and is one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.”
2024, The World Bank
Healthy behaviour leads to healthy lifestyles. While it is difficult to unwind every element of poverty, one issue that stands out health, and access to healthcare play a hug factor in the economic stability of a community. Health issues are often a significant factor plunging families into poverty. Living in poverty can mean inadequate health and dental care, chronic malnutrition, poor hygiene, unsafe sanitation conditions, and a lack of disease prevention. Illness often leads to falling behind in school, and the lack of education leads to poor choices -drug use, early pregnancy, and gang affiliation.
We provide programs that focus on developing healthy habits and connect them with support tailored to fit their needs.
We don’t just address the symptoms of poverty, we battle the root cause by providing education on preventable health issues and offering basic health and dental care for the children in our community.
Employment is the catalyst to lasting change. Many children and youth in our communities can’t envision a life free from poverty because they have never seen an example of success nor have they been given the tools to find employment.
How can you apply for a job if you cannot complete a resume? Or know where to look for work? Proving youth the confidence and skills needed to contribute to their local economy is crucial to help them end generational poverty. Our programs help youth gain marketable skills through continuing education, vocational courses, and putting them on track to a better future.
